Environmental journalist Erastus Asare Donkor has alleged that some police officers ignore illegal mining because they fear transfers and pressure from District Chief Executives, some of whom he claims are involved in galamsey.
According to Chale News, he made the claims on Joy FM on 29 October 2026. The police have not responded and no official is named.
The claims have not been tested, and no one has been accused of an offence by the authorities.
