A bridge serving several communities in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region has collapsed, disrupting access to surrounding towns.

According to Chale News, the bridge connected Abesua No. 1, Abesua No. 2, Nyamebekyere, Abrokyire and nearby settlements to the main road serving Seribuso and Mankranso.

The report attributes the collapse to damage caused by illegal mining along the banks of the River Kukubu.

The bridge was described as the main connection used by residents travelling to schools, markets and other destinations.

The reported damage has left the affected communities without their usual road connection.

The report did not identify individual miners responsible for the alleged damage or establish whether police had arrested anyone.

No criminal charges or completed official investigation were confirmed.
