The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has urged Parliament to summon the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, and the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) to address allegations of visa fraud. According to the NPP's Director of Communications, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, Parliament's Youth and Sports Committee should investigate these claims. The party also seeks a public inquiry, the release of relevant documents, and a clear timeline for the investigation. Miracles stated that the inquiry would assure international partners that such alleged fraudulent activities are not state-sanctioned and that those involved will be held accountable. The NPP further requested that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs update the public on its dealings with the US and Canadian embassies and outline measures to protect Ghanaian travelers. They also called for the protection of individuals who allegedly paid money to the GTA or the National Sports Authority for visa and travel assistance, urging for the recovery and return of any funds.
