A private legal practitioner, Gift Emmanuel Kofi Tsamah, has petitioned the Interior Minister and the Attorney-General concerning alleged abuse of police authority in a land dispute at Okpoi Gonno. Mr Tsamah, who is also a Principal Revenue Officer with the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority, is calling for an independent investigation into the conduct of personnel from the Criminal Investigations Department’s Property Fraud Unit. The petition alleges that officers arrested him despite his voluntary cooperation and presentation of documents supporting his ownership claim. He further accuses the unit’s personnel of assisting others to interfere with the property. Mr Tsamah claims his ownership is supported by an indenture dated February 9, 2012, and a Land Title Certificate dated November 21, 2019, and that he has developed the property since 2018. He alleges that on October 6, 2026, a police detective visited the property with civilian men who attempted to intimidate and arrest his cousin. The petitioner also alleges that on October 13, 2026, individuals led alleged land guards onto the premises, and his cousin was assaulted. Mr Tsamah is requesting an investigation into his arrest and the disclosure of documents supporting the competing ownership claim, seeking administrative or legal action against any officer found to have abused their position.
