The Dansoman Circuit Court has granted bail of GH¢150,000 each to Kwame Akpoba, 45, a butcher, and Emmanuel Okyere, 48, a trader, who are among 17 individuals facing charges of conspiracy to commit robbery, robbery, and dishonestly receiving stolen property. They were admitted to bail with two sureties each, one of whom must be a family member and the other a public servant earning at least GH¢5,000 monthly. They are also required to report to the Criminal Investigations Department bi-weekly. All accused persons pleaded not guilty. Nine individuals were brought to court from police custody, while six others remain at large, with bench warrants issued for their arrest. The prosecution alleges the accused were part of a syndicate involved in robberies across the Greater Accra Region and beyond. Intelligence-led operations led to arrests at a hideout in Agbogbloshie. Investigations suggest some accused admitted to participating in robberies and selling stolen items to Akpoba and Okyere. Three Royal motorbikes and one GS Vesper motorbike, allegedly stolen, were recovered from Akpoba’s house. The prosecution claims Akpoba, Okyere, and another individual supplied robbers with weapons and received stolen goods. Investigations are ongoing.
