King Solomon Mensah Bonsu, a 52-year-old caterer, was brought before the Accra Circuit Court facing four charges, including unlawful control of narcotic drugs, engaging in prohibited business related to narcotic drugs, and the sale of unregistered drugs. His plea was not taken, and he was remanded in custody. The prosecution alleges that on September 30, 2026, at Tantra Hills, Bonsu was found in possession of substances suspected to be narcotic drugs, intended for trafficking and sale. These included various forms of dried plant material, powders, and tablets. He is also accused of possessing and storing for sale liquid substances suspected to be laced with narcotic drugs, and unregistered ecstasy tablets. The charges are brought under the Narcotics Control Commission Act and the Public Health Act. Bonsu is expected to reappear in court on October 20, 2026. In a separate case, a 25-year-old driver, Emmanuel Owusu, was arraigned before the same court for allegedly offering unregistered drugs for sale at Madina Ritz Junction. Owusu faces a charge of selling an unregistered product. His plea was not taken, and the case was adjourned to October 14, 2026. According to the prosecution, Owusu was arrested during an anti-narcotics operation on September 30, 2026, with six bottles of Benylin with codeine and five bottles of Nitrous Oxide Food Grade, popularly known as “laughing gas”, allegedly retrieved from him. These products are suspected to be unregistered by the Food and Drugs Authority.
