Recording or sharing a person's intimate images without consent can amount to criminal offences under the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29), and the Cybersecurity Act, 2020 (Act 1038), the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection has warned.

In a statement on 6 November 2026, the ministry said consent to an intimate relationship is not consent to being recorded or exposed. No one has the legal right to use personal images or videos to threaten, extort or humiliate another person.

Deliberately republishing such material online can attract separate legal consequences.

The ministry asked the Ghana Police Service to investigate reported cases and urged victims of any gender to report threats rather than give in to them. It cautioned content creators and bloggers against reposting intimate images.
