A 23-year-old student accused of stealing GH¢1.5 million belonging to Bishop Daniel Obinim has pleaded not guilty at the Adenta Circuit Court in Greater Accra.

According to MyJoyOnline and the Ghana News Agency, Ohemaa Serwaa Abigail Owusu Ansah denied charges of conspiracy to commit crime, namely stealing, and stealing when she made her second appearance before the court on 30 October 2026.

At her first appearance, the court granted her bail of GH¢1 million with two sureties, one to be justified with landed property, but deferred taking her plea.

Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Maxwell Lanyo told the court that the complainant, the founder of International Godsway Church, was a friend of the accused. The prosecution alleges that she visited him at his Lakeside residence on 13 October 2026 and remained in the house after he left for church.

The prosecution said the bishop discovered the next morning that his safe had been broken into and GH¢1.5 million taken. It alleges that the accused arranged for two young men to come to the house and showed them the safe. She was arrested on 16 October 2026, and the prosecution said investigations were ongoing.

The allegations remain before the court and have not been tested at trial. The accused has denied the charges and is presumed innocent.
