A farmer named Mariam Alhassan has filed a case against the government at the Supreme Court. She is from Techiman in the Bono East region.

Ms. Alhassan says the rules for growing industrial cannabis are unfair. She calls them "extortionate fees" and "restrictive licensing.".

She believes these rules prevent many people from starting a cannabis growing business.

The lawsuit was filed on Friday, February 27. It asks the Supreme Court to review the regulations.

The Ministry for Agriculture is named as a respondent in the case.

This legal challenge seeks to change the system of permits and fees for industrial cannabis farmers.

The court will now consider Ms. Alhassan's arguments against the government's regulations.

The case highlights concerns about accessibility and cost for those wanting to enter the industrial cannabis sector.
