Corrections

We aim to be accurate. When we are not, we correct the record.

Our approach

  • We review every correction request.
  • If a report contains an error of fact, we correct the article.
  • For significant errors, we add a note to the article explaining what was changed.
  • If a report identifies someone it should not, we remove the details or the article.

Takedown and privacy requests

If a story identifies a child, identifies the victim of a sexual offence, contains a private address or phone number, or reports a case that was later dropped or ended in acquittal, use the form below and begin your message with TAKEDOWN. You can also email editor@ghanacrimes.com with TAKEDOWN in the subject line. These requests go to the top of the editors' queue and the details are removed while we review.

Transparency

  • Most stories are summaries of reports from Ghanaian publishers and official bodies, written with AI assistance and automatic checks. Each one names and links its source. How we use AI.
  • Labels such as “Charged” or “Convicted” come from the source report. When one is wrong, we fix it and log it above.
  • “Verified by 2 sources” (or more) appears only when at least two separate outlets or official bodies reported the story.
  • Off-topic items that slip through are unpublished, not deleted, and the change is recorded in our internal audit log.
