Alhaji Abdul-Latif Copshe, wanted by police, has been declared the winner of the New Patriotic Party Constituency Youth Organiser election in Tolon. This was revealed by Interior Minister Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak.

Mr Copshe is a prime suspect in a shooting incident that occurred during the 2024 elections. The incident took place in Nyankpala within the Tolon Constituency.

The Minister confirmed that police had been looking for Mr Copshe in connection with the election violence.

Despite being a wanted suspect, Mr Copshe was declared the winner of the party's youth organiser position.

The Minister did not provide further details on the ongoing investigation into the shooting incident.

This situation raises questions about the vetting process for party positions.

The Ghana Police Service is expected to provide an update on the case.
