A Nigerian national identifying herself as Nancy has reported to the Sekondi Police that she was assaulted by a man after an agreement to provide paid services ended in dispute, according to local media reports. Nancy, who said she works as a commercial sex worker in Sekondi, told Connect FM’s Nhyiraba Paa Kwesi Simpson that the alleged attack occurred on Friday night, December 26, 2025. She said she and the client agreed on a fee of fifty Ghana cedis for a short session and went to his residence.
Nancy stated that after the agreed time elapsed and she indicated she was tired and could not continue, the man demanded a refund of the money. She says she refused, explaining that she had already provided the service. She further alleged that the situation escalated when the man attempted to seize her mobile phone, and that he physically assaulted her during that confrontation. The alleged victim said she subsequently reported the matter to the Sekondi Police, who issued her with a medical form to enable a hospital examination and treatment.
Police have confirmed receipt of her report and the issuance of the medical form, but have not publicly released further details such as whether any suspect has been identified, arrested or formally charged at this stage. Investigations are ongoing, and any determination of criminal liability will depend on the evidence gathered by law enforcement.
At this point there is no official statement on the specific nature and extent of any injuries suffered by the alleged victim, nor an independent account from the man involved in the incident. The identity of the client has not been disclosed by police, and it is unclear whether he has been located or questioned as part of the investigation.
The legal status of commercial sex work in Ghana remains complex. While consensual adult sexual activity is lawful, activities surrounding commercial sex work can intersect with other legal provisions. The police process in cases involving alleged assault or violence requires medical documentation and investigative follow-up before any charges are laid.
The Sekondi Police Criminal Investigations Department will continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the complaint. Authorities have not released any statement indicating when the investigation may be concluded or whether additional action, including arrest or prosecution, will follow.
