A tragic incident has claimed the life of a 15-year-old boy who drowned in an abandoned galamsey pit. The incident occurred near Akaporiso-Abusco within the Obuasi East Municipality.
The circumstances surrounding the drowning are still under investigation. Abandoned mining pits, particularly those left by illegal mining activities, pose significant safety risks in many mining communities across Ghana, often becoming hazardous water bodies.
