Ten percent of people who use drugs in Ghana started before they were 15 years old. This information was shared by Major General Maxwell Obuba, the Director-General of the Narcotics Control Commission.

He stated that a study conducted in 2025 revealed this concerning trend. The research was carried out by the University of Ghana School of Public Health.

Major General Obuba expressed serious concern about the young age at which some individuals in Ghana begin using drugs.

The findings highlight a significant challenge in preventing drug abuse among the nation's youth.

The Narcotics Control Commission is working to address this issue.

Further details on the study's methodology and specific findings were not immediately available.
