A special group has given its report to the Ministry of Health. This group was asked to look into claims of wrongdoings at two major hospitals in Accra. The reports suggested that patients were charged money they should not have been.
The committee spent time investigating Greater Accra Regional Hospital, also known as Ridge Hospital, and Korle Bu Teaching Hospital. They examined records and spoke to people to understand what happened.
During their investigation, the committee discovered that some unethical practices did indeed take place. These actions involved charging patients for services without proper approval.
The committee has now recommended that disciplinary action should be taken against some of the hospital staff members involved. The Ministry of Health will review these recommendations.
These findings mean that some workers may face consequences for their actions. This could include warnings, suspension, or other measures depending on the severity of the misconduct.
The investigation aimed to ensure that patients are treated fairly and are not overcharged. It highlights the importance of following correct procedures in healthcare.
The Ministry of Health is expected to decide on the next steps based on the committee’s report and suggestions.
