A special committee formed to look into reports of unfair patient charges at two major Accra hospitals has completed its work. The committee investigated claims that patients were made to pay too much for medical services at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital and the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
The group, made up of seven members, found that some hospital staff were involved in unethical practices. These practices included charging patients amounts that were not approved.
Dr. Inua chaired the committee. The committee has now given its findings to the Ministry of Health. The Ministry will review the report carefully.
Following the review, the Ministry of Health is expected to take action. This action may include disciplinary measures against the staff members found to be responsible for the unapproved charges.
The investigation aimed to ensure fair treatment and billing for all patients seeking care at these public hospitals.
