A committee has finished investigating claims of unethical patient charges at two major Accra hospitals. These hospitals are the Greater Accra Regional Ridge Hospital and the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
Patients reported being charged unusual amounts for services. This led to the formation of a seven-member committee to look into the matter.
The committee found that some unethical practices did happen. These findings have been presented to the Ministry of Health.
Based on their findings, the committee recommends disciplinary measures. These measures are directed at certain staff members involved in the unapproved charges.
The Ministry of Health will now consider the report and the committee's recommendations.
Further details on the specific charges and the staff involved have not been made public.
