The Social Security and National Insurance Trust has stated that employees and members of the scheme are not permitted to register boyfriends or girlfriends as pension beneficiaries. This clarification comes from Mr Frank Molbila, the General Manager in-charge of Benefits at SSNIT.

He explained that the Trust's regulations allow only direct blood relations to be nominated. This measure is in place to maintain the integrity and intended purpose of the pension scheme.

Beneficiaries are individuals who receive funds from a pension account after the account holder passes away. SSNIT manages these funds to provide financial security.

The rule ensures that pensions are passed on to immediate family members who are legally recognized as dependents or heirs.

This policy aims to prevent disputes and ensure that pension funds reach the rightful recipients as per the scheme's guidelines.

Mr Molbila made these remarks while discussing the administration of SSNIT benefits.
