The Social Security and National Insurance Trust SSNIT has stated that individuals cannot register their romantic partners who are not blood relatives as pension beneficiaries. This clarification comes from Mr Frank Molbila, the General Manager in charge of Benefits.

During an explanation of SSNIT regulations, Mr Molbila specified that only family members related by blood can be designated to receive pension benefits. This rule applies to all members of the SSNIT scheme.

The Trust aims to ensure that pension funds are distributed according to established legal and familial relationships. This policy protects the integrity of the pension system.

SSNIT members are encouraged to review their beneficiary nominations to ensure they comply with the Trust's guidelines. Proper documentation of family ties is essential when making nominations.
