The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has stated that employees and members of the scheme cannot register their boyfriends or girlfriends as pension beneficiaries. This clarification comes from Mr Frank Molbila, the General Manager in-charge of Benefits.

He explained that the trust's rules allow only blood relations to be nominated to receive benefits. This means that spouses, children, or parents are the only individuals who can be officially designated.

The announcement aims to prevent confusion and ensure compliance with the trust's regulations regarding beneficiary nominations. It reinforces the principle that pension funds are intended for the immediate family of the member.

Mr Molbila provided this information in a discussion related to the management of pension benefits. The trust aims to uphold transparency and proper administration of funds for its members.
