Employees contributing to the Social Security and National Insurance Trust SSNIT cannot name their boyfriends or girlfriends as pension beneficiaries. This policy applies to all members of the scheme.

Mr Frank Molbila, General Manager in charge of Benefits at SSNIT, explained the trust's guidelines. He stated that only blood relations are eligible to receive pension funds.

This clarification aims to prevent confusion and ensure that pension benefits go to the rightful next of kin according to the trust's regulations. The SSNIT scheme is designed to protect the financial future of immediate families.

The trust encourages all members to review their beneficiary designations regularly. This ensures that their wishes are accurately reflected in their SSNIT records.
