The Ghana Shippers Authority has started an investigation. This is due to reports of a new fee being added by shipping companies. This fee is called an Emergency Conflict Surcharge.

Sources say this surcharge amounts to 1,000 US Dollars. It is reportedly linked to recent tensions in the Middle East.

However, concerns have been raised because some cargo was transported weeks before the conflict escalated.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Shippers Authority confirmed the investigation. He stated this information on a social media platform.

The Authority aims to ensure fair practices for Ghanaian importers. They are examining whether the surcharge was justified for all affected shipments.

This action is part of efforts to protect businesses from potentially unneccessary shipping costs.
