The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission has established a new commercial price for charging electric vehicles.

This marks Ghana’s first official tariff for the service.

The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission announced the new price as part of its regular review of electricity and water rates.

Under the new rules, electricity used to charge electric vehicles will cost 201.6 Ghana pesewas, or GH¢2.016, for each kilowatt-hour.

Companies that provide charging services will also pay a monthly service charge.

This charge is set at GH¢500 per month.

The move aims to regulate the growing electric vehicle market.

It provides a clear cost structure for both consumers and service providers.
