Oil marketing companies in Ghana are experiencing significant problems because fuel prices change too often and without warning. Riverson Oppong, the Chief Executive Officer for the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies, said this makes it hard for businesses to plan.
These companies buy fuel and sell it. When prices change quickly, they cannot always predict how much they will earn or lose on the fuel they have already bought.
This makes it difficult for them to set prices for customers. It also affects how they manage their money and order new supplies.
Mr. Oppong explained that the industry needs more stable pricing periods. This would allow companies to operate more smoothly and predictably.
The constant changes are putting pressure on the finances of many oil marketing businesses across the country.
