Some health facilities in the Western North Region are charging patients more than they should, according to Frank Duku, the regional director for the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA).

Mr. Duku explained that these extra charges are the biggest hurdle in making the NHIS work well in the area.

He said that many health centers continue to ask for money that is not allowed under the insurance plan.

These actions by the facilities are making people doubt the health insurance system.

The NHIA is working to address these issues to rebuild confidence in the scheme.

Ensuring facilities follow the rules is important for the NHIS to help everyone in the region.

The director did not specify which facilities were involved.

Further steps are being considered to stop these illegal charges.
