The Member of Parliament for Mpraeso Constituency, Alexander Akwasi Acquah, has called for a more focused approach to combating illegal mining, known locally as galamsey. He believes that those involved with the current government are not engaged in this activity.

Mr. Acquah expressed concerns that the efforts against galamsey should begin by targeting individuals closely associated with the government. He raised questions about why no prominent figures linked to illegal mining have faced legal action.

Speaking on a television program, the MP questioned the reasons behind the absence of prosecutions for high-profile individuals involved in illegal mining. He suggested that opposition members are not engaged in such activities.
