A political communicator for the National Democratic Congress, Dela Edem, has proposed selling Ghana's presidential jet. He says the money raised could help fund important development projects across the country. This suggestion comes as the current presidential aircraft, a Dassault Falcon 900, underwent annual maintenance in France.
Edem made these remarks during a radio program discussing national issues. He argued that prioritizing development needs over the presidential aircraft is a responsible financial decision for Ghana. He believes such a move would demonstrate a commitment to public welfare.
The NDC communicator emphasized that the proceeds from the sale could be directed towards sectors like education, healthcare, or infrastructure. This, he stated, would have a more significant and lasting positive impact on citizens.
He suggested that the government should consider this option before proceeding with plans to acquire a new presidential jet. Edem's call highlights a debate about government spending priorities and the use of state resources.
