Dela Edem, a party official with the National Democratic Congress, has called for the sale of Ghana's current presidential jet.
He believes the funds from selling the aircraft should be directed towards national development initiatives.
Edem suggested this should happen before any decision is made to acquire a new presidential aircraft.
He made these remarks on a radio program, Adom FM's Dwaso Nsem.
The described presidential jet is a Dassault Falcon 900.
This aircraft was recently sent to France for its annual maintenance.
The National Democratic Congress is a major political party in Ghana.
