Lawyer Kwesi Botchway Jnr has formally asked the Right to Information Commission to review an action. This action involves the Economic and Organised Crime Office failure to provide him with information.
The information requested relates to GH600 million in recovered funds. The President had announced these recoveries made by EOCO.
Mr. Botchway Jnr filed his application on April 24, 2026. He states that EOCO did not give him access to the requested details.
The RTI Commission is an independent body. It handles complaints when citizens are denied access to information under the RTI law.
This law allows Ghanaians to ask for information from public institutions. Public bodies must provide the information unless there is a legal exemption.
The RTI Commission will now consider Mr. Botchway Jnr's petition. They will decide if EOCO acted correctly in withholding the data.
This case highlights the public's right to access information on recovered state funds. It will determine if EOCO followed the RTI law.
