Lawyer Lawrence Kwesi Botchway Jnr has formally asked the Right to Information Commission for help. He is unhappy that the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) did not give him information he requested.

The information sought concerns GH¢600 million. This amount was announced by the President as having been recovered.

Mr. Botchway believes the public has a right to know how this money was recovered. He filed his petition on April 24, 2026. The petition asks the commission to review EOCO's handling of his request.

The Right to Information Commission has the power to investigate such complaints. It can order public institutions to provide information if the request is lawful.

Access to information laws are meant to promote transparency and accountability. This case highlights the importance of these laws.
