Unauthorized fees charged by some hospitals and clinics are making it hard for the National Health Insurance Scheme NHIS to work well in the Western North Region. This was revealed by Frank Duku, the regional director for the NHIA.

Mr. Duku said that these extra charges are the main issue affecting the NHIS implementation in the area.

He explained that certain health facilities continue to charge patients money for services that are supposed to be covered by the insurance.

These actions by the health facilities are causing people to lose faith in the health insurance system.

The director's comments highlight a significant problem that needs to be addressed to ensure the NHIS can effectively serve the people of Western North.
