Illegal fees are stopping people from joining the National Health Insurance Scheme NHIS in Asutifi South. Joseph Sarkodie, the NHIA Manager for the area, said this is a problem.

He explained that some health facilities are asking for money that is not allowed. This makes the NHIS less appealing to residents.

Mr. Sarkodie stated that these unauthorized charges are a barrier to enrollment.

The NHIA Manager believes this practice discourages people from signing up for the health insurance.

The Ahafo Region is affected by this issue.

The NHIA is working to address these illegal charges.

Ensuring fair access to healthcare is important for the scheme.
