The Institute for Energy Security IES is recommending that the government pause collecting a specific tax on diesel. This tax is known as the Price Stabilization and Recovery Levy PSRL.

IES believes this action would provide consumers with some relief from the current high cost of fuel.

The IES made this suggestion in a public statement.

Fuel prices have been increasing recently. These increases are linked to global oil prices.

Suspending the PSRL could lower the price of diesel at the pump.

This would help Ghanaians manage their budgets during this difficult economic time.

The IES hopes the government will consider its proposal.

This is to help citizens cope with the rising cost of fuel.
