The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has begun a tax audit of a law firm. The firm is owned by lawyer Jonathan A. Alua.
This audit comes shortly after Mr. Alua took the GRA and the Attorney-General to the Supreme Court. He is challenging rules on duty exemptions for passenger baggage.
The GRA's notice states the audit will examine the law firm's tax affairs. This period covers the years 2023, 2024, and 2025.
The lawsuit filed by Mr. Alua concerns specific tax exemptions related to goods passengers bring into the country.
The GRA has not yet commented on whether the audit is linked to the ongoing legal case.
