Godfred Dame, the former Attorney-General, has stated he never stopped any citizen from travelling by using his office. He served as the lawyer for Hanan Abdul-Wahab Aludiba, the former Chief Executive Officer of the National Food Buffer Stock Company.
Mr. Aludiba was arrested on Saturday night at the Accra International Airport. He was preparing to travel at the time of his arrest.
Dame maintains that he always respected the fundamental rights of all Ghanaians during his tenure as Attorney-General.
The former Attorney-General made these statements in response to questions surrounding Mr. Aludiba's arrest.
Details of why Mr. Aludiba was arrested have not been fully released by authorities.
Ghanaian citizens have the right to travel freely unless legally restricted.
The Office of the Attorney-General is responsible for representing the state in legal matters.
Further investigations into the circumstances of the arrest are expected.
