The Ghana Shippers Authority has stated it is not responsible for emergency shipping fees. The Authority's Chief Executive Officer, Professor Ransford Gyampo, addressed recent reports suggesting otherwise. He explained that shipping lines operate independently when setting their charges.

Professor Gyampo clarified that the Ghana Shippers Authority's role is to regulate fees charged within Ghana. It does not have the authority to control or set surcharges imposed by international shipping companies.

Reports had claimed shipping lines were charging an "Emergency Conflict Surcharge." Professor Gyampo indicated these claims were misleading regarding the Authority's involvement.

Shipping lines decide their own prices for services. The Ghana Shippers Authority's oversight applies only to local charges, not those set by global carriers.
