The Ghana Shippers Authority is investigating concerns about shipping lines adding an emergency conflict surcharge. Concerns have been raised by importers about these additional costs.

Ransford Gyampo, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Shippers Authority, stated that the Authority has not been officially informed by shipping companies about any such surcharge.

He explained that shipping lines are the owners of the vessels and have the right to set their own charges.

The Authority aims to confirm whether these alleged surcharges are indeed being applied.

This investigation seeks to ensure fair practices for importers who rely on these shipping services.

Further announcements will be made as the investigation progresses.
