An audit of GH¢299 million spent on COVID-19 fumigation by the Ministry of Local Government was conducted. This spending was confirmed by the Audit Service.
However, the audit findings related to this expenditure were not included in the final official report. Investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni brought this omission to light.
Awuni stated that he contacted the Audit Service to inquire about the reasons for the exclusion. He was informed that the audit had indeed taken place.
The journalist shared this information during an appearance on Joy News’ PM Express program. The Ministry of Local Government was responsible for the fumigation contracts.
The details of the audit and the reasons for its omission from the report are now a subject of public interest.
