The Environmental Protection Authority EPA has ordered Empire Cement Ghana Limited to shut down its factory. This action is immediate.

The EPA made this decision after finding that the company caused sustained air pollution. Empire Cement also broke its environmental permit multiple times.

A closure notice was signed by Acting Chief Executive Officer Professor Nana Ama Browne Klutse. The notice was dated September 14, 2026.

The EPA's investigations confirmed serious breaches of environmental regulations.
