Dr Kenneth Ashigbey believes Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, should have received the maximum 25-year jail sentence. Ashigbey leads the Media Coalition Against Illegal Mining.

He stated this regarding the Accra High Court's decision. Ashigbey feels that those who finance and support illegal mining activities must face the harshest penalties.

The conviction relates to illegal mining operations. The court has issued a sentence, but Ashigbey thinks it was not severe enough.

He emphasized that the fight against illegal mining requires strong action against all involved parties, especially those providing financial backing.

The coalition aims to hold individuals accountable for environmental damage caused by illegal mining.
