Former world boxing champion Zolani Tete has died after being shot.

The 38-year-old athlete was attacked on Friday. This happened as he arrived at his home in Mdantsane, a township in South Africa's Eastern Cape province.

Two men wearing masks got out of a vehicle. They shot Tete and then drove away.

Tete was declared dead at the scene. The motive for the attack is not yet known.
