Police in the Upper West Region have arrested five people. They are suspected of being part of a group that robbed people. The group operated in the Wa West District and the Wa Municipality.
These robbers reportedly used machetes. They forced victims to give them their mobile money PINs. This happened over several months.
The arrests were made after police conducted operations based on information they received. A statement from the Public Affairs Unit of the Ghana Police Service confirmed the arrests.
During the operation, one suspect died. Two other suspects managed to escape and are currently being sought by the police.
The police are continuing their work to find the two individuals who are on the run. The investigation aims to dismantle the entire robbery syndicate.
This action by the police is part of efforts to ensure the safety of residents in the Wa area.
