Fighting broke out during the National Democratic Congress (NDC) branch elections in Assin Central Constituency. The incident happened on July 26, 2026.
A candidate for deputy constituency youth organiser, Yaw Owusu, was allegedly attacked. A group of men reportedly assaulted him at the Bamboo Factory polling station in Assin Fosu.
Mr Owusu suffered serious injuries from the attack. He was rushed to a local medical facility for treatment.
The reason for the assault is not yet clear. The Ghana Police Service is investigating the incident.
