Police have launched an investigation after the body of an unidentified woman was discovered at Tetegu Junction in the Weija-Gbawe Municipality.
According to information gathered at the scene, the woman’s body was found lying naked. Observations by residents and first responders indicated that her left leg and parts of her body had been removed. Police say the condition of the body has raised questions about whether the woman was killed at the location or whether her body was dumped there after her death.
Some residents in the area told police they suspect the body may have been deposited at the junction to create the impression of a road traffic accident. Others have speculated that the death could be linked to ritual-related activity. Police have cautioned that such claims remain unverified and form part of ongoing investigations.
Officers from the Ghana Police Service visited the scene and secured the area before the body was transported to the police morgue for preservation and autopsy. Police say the post-mortem examination will be critical in establishing the cause of death and whether body parts were removed before or after death.
As of the time of reporting, the identity of the deceased has not been established, and no arrests have been made. Police say they are working to identify the woman and trace her movements prior to her death.
Investigators are also appealing to members of the public who may have information about the deceased or who witnessed suspicious activity around Tetegu Junction to come forward to assist with inquiries.
Police have stressed that all possibilities are being examined and that conclusions will only be drawn after forensic and investigative processes are completed.
