The Ghana Police Service Highway Patrol team successfully intervened in an attempted armed robbery on the Kumasi to Accra highway during the late hours of Saturday night. According to reports from Starr FM and Ghanaian Times the incident occurred near Anyinam where suspected armed men allegedly attempted to intercept an intercity passenger bus.

Police sources indicate that the tactical team arrived at the scene while the suspected criminals were attempting to block the road. A report from Citi Newsroom states that the swift arrival of the patrol officers forced the unidentified suspects to flee into nearby bushes before they could complete the robbery or harm the passengers.

The Highway Patrol unit secured the immediate vicinity and provided an escort for the affected bus to ensure its safe arrival at the next destination. No injuries or casualties were reported among the passengers or the police officers involved in the operation according to a statement attributed to local law enforcement by the Daily Graphic.

Authorities have since increased patrols along the Anyinam stretch of the highway which has been identified as a significant point for nighttime transit. The Ghana Police Service has not yet announced any arrests in connection with this specific incident but officials say investigations are ongoing to identify the fleeing suspects.
