The Ghana Police Service confirmed in an official statement that its personnel neutralized two members of an armed robbery gang during an operation on the Accra Kumasi highway. According to the police report the incident occurred at a section of the road between Anyinam and Konongo where the suspects were allegedly preparing to attack commuters.

Officers from the Anti Robbery Unit encountered the gang while on a targeted patrol operation. The Ghana Police Service indicated that two suspects were fatally wounded during the confrontation while other members of the syndicate managed to escape into the surrounding vegetation.

Items recovered from the scene according to the Ghana Police Service included one locally manufactured pistol and several rounds of ammunition. The bodies of the deceased suspects were transported to a public morgue for identification and autopsy.
