Police in the Ashanti South Region have stopped a gang of armed robbers. These criminals were operating on the Obuasi–Dunkwa highway.

The police acted on information received. They carried out operations on March 10 and March 11, 2026.

During the operations, there was an exchange of gunfire between the police and the suspects. Two individuals suspected of being armed robbers were killed during this exchange.

The Ashanti South Regional Police Command announced the successful disruption of the gang. They confirmed the seizure of firearms and ammunition.

Several other individuals were arrested as part of the operation. Investigators are working to understand the full extent of the illegal arms network.
