Police in Ashanti South have shot and killed two men believed to be armed robbers. The incident occurred as the suspects were reportedly engaged in criminal activity along the Obuasi-Dunkwa Highway.
The Ashanti South Police Command also announced the arrest of other individuals suspected to be part of the robbery gang. The arrests happened during an operation following the encounter where the two were killed.
During the operation, police officers recovered a Toyota saloon car. They also seized several firearms and ammunition from the suspects.
The Regional Commander, DCOP Joseph Hammond Nyaabah, addressed the media about the incident. He provided details of the operation and the items seized.
DCOP Nyaabah spoke at a briefing held in Bekwai. The briefing took place on March 10, 2026, according to a police statement.
