The Eastern Regional Police Command has commenced an investigation into the death of a twenty four year old woman identified as Maa Abena who was found deceased in a room at a guest house in Koforidua. According to reports from GhanaWeb and Graphic Online the discovery occurred on Monday June 17 2024 after hotel staff noticed the guest had not checked out at the scheduled time.
A report from Citi Newsroom indicates that the deceased allegedly checked into the facility on Sunday evening accompanied by a male companion. The Ghana Police Service statement noted that the male individual was nowhere to be found when the discovery was made by the facility management. Investigating officers found the victim lying motionless on the bed with marks that local authorities suggest indicate foul play.
The body of the deceased has since been deposited at the St. Joseph Hospital morgue for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death as confirmed by the Eastern Regional Police Public Relations Office. GhanaWeb reports that the police have cordoned off the scene to collect forensic evidence and are currently tracking the movements of the unidentified male companion who is considered a person of interest in the case.
As of the latest updates from the Daily Guide and local police reports no arrests have been made in connection with the incident. Authorities have urged anyone with information regarding the identity of the male companion or the events leading up to the incident to contact the Koforidua Central Police Station. The management of the guest house is cooperating with investigators by providing CCTV footage and guest registers for examination according to official police statements.
