Police have opened an investigation into a violent assault at Nzema Nkwanta, a farming community within the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipality of the Western North Region.
The victim, identified as Charles Apraku, aged 25, was reportedly attacked with a cutlass during a disagreement. According to preliminary information available to the police, the incident followed a misunderstanding involving a motorbike. It is alleged that during the exchange, the victim pushed the suspect’s motorbike to the ground.
Police say the suspect responded by attacking Apraku with a cutlass, inflicting deep wounds on his right hand. Medical reports indicate that the injuries resulted in a fractured bone, though the full extent of the damage has not yet been publicly detailed.
Residents in the area alerted authorities after the incident. The victim was taken to a health facility for treatment, where he remains under medical care.
Officers from the Ghana Police Service say efforts are underway to establish the exact sequence of events and to locate and question the suspect. As of the time of reporting, police had not confirmed whether an arrest has been made.
Investigators are taking statements from witnesses and community members as part of efforts to determine possible charges. Police have cautioned that all allegations remain subject to investigation and that any suspect is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
